Yella Beezy was born Markies Deandre Conway in the neighborhood of Oak Cliff, Dallas, on October 21st, 1991. He prefers to go by his rap name Yella Beezy which is a name he got from the streets. Growing up Yella’s mother always made sure he was okay and even if it meant she had to go, she always gave her son what he needed. At the age of 7 he witnessed someone get murdered in his front yard, as a result, Yella had to go in for questioning as a witness and says that it really affected him to see. Yella would go back and forth between his mother’s and father’s place as his dad only lived a couple of streets down. Almost 4 years after witnessing a murder his father was coming home from work one day and he was killed in his own front yard. That’s when Yella told his mom that they needed to get away from where they were living. But by the age of 13, he started getting involved with the streets selling crack. Around the same time, Yella developed an interest in music and started rapping after listening to music in the car with his mom. He became inspired by acts like Eazy E, Three 6 Mafia, Boosie Baddazz, Kevin Gates, and many more. He also watched tapes of the original Cash Money Performing.

Yella Beezy attended around 7 different high schools after continuously getting kicked out. Originally his heart was in football but he changed schools too many times to ever be able to show his talent. He gave up his football dreams for dealing. One day he walked out of the house with $70 and came back with $300 to pay his mom’s light bills. His mother was a little bit specious of her son’s new influx of cash originally telling her it was from gambling, but she didn’t really believe him. She eventually found his guns, scales, and baggies under his bed. When Yella was 17 years he started seeing people around him serving long sentences for selling hard drugs. So Yella decided that he would sell his last rock and get into weed selling. The same day when he made his last deal, he rolled out in his old Cadillac with a tail light out and got stopped by police. They found 2 ounces of weed and some pills but luckily the charges were later dropped thanks to good work from his lawyer.

Music Career:

Yella Beezy started taking rap more seriously releasing a run of mixtapes including Lil Yella Mane in 2012 Country Rap Tunes, and Lite Work in 2015, as well as Broke Nights Rich Days, and Lite Work, Vol. 2 in 2017. He says that it was his music Lite Work that caught some attention locally, but he really started gaining some local buzz when DJs put his music on their mixtape DVDs. He said it was really the strip club that gained him his true popularity through. From 2010 to 2014 they wouldn’t play any Dallas music in the club so Yella had to find his own way to get his music heard. He and his crew went to the Strip club three to four times a week, spending $1000 a night in building relationships with Strippers and DJs to play their music.

Strippers filmed themselves dancing to the songs and it continued to build buzz. The biggest breakthrough moment of Yella’s career came when he released the song That’s On Me. The song was really hit and sent him into mainstream success. It was released in November of 2017 but the promo push was a slow grind. He made the song in 20 minutes, his producer came to his crib, cooked up the beat in 15 minutes and Yella recorded it the next day. That song was popular in the strip clubs and eventually caught the ear of local DJs and mainstream radio. Local radio station K104 became the first radio station to take a shot at the song after it caught the attention of DJ Bay Bay. From there 97.9 The Beat added it on as well. The American executive L.A. Reid believed in it so much that he signed Yella to a deal with his new label Hitco Entertainment and made it his goal to get the song to number one in the country. Personal Life:

Yella Beezy is quite private about his personal life and hasn’t disclosed any information about his girlfriend. At the age of 26, Yella had his first child, a son who was born in 2018. As soon as he looked down a car pulled up next to him and rang off 23 shots. His music was up so loud that he didn’t even hear the shots but he felt them, four of the bullets hit him and one bullet missed his heart, piercing his lung. He had his registered gun on his lap but after the shots were fired he couldn’t find the gun. Yella crashed into the car and still couldn’t find the gun but found his phone and started running. Shortly after the cops arrived after 3.30 am. Yella was hospitalized and then in October of 2018, he watched his BET Hip Hop Awards Performance from a hospital bed.
