Shiv Nadar is an Indian billionaire industrialist, founder and chairman Emeritus of HCL Technologies Limited and the Shiv Nadar Foundation. He was born in 1945 in Moolaipozhi Village, in Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu, India. He belongs to an upper-middle-class family. His father was Sivasubramaniya Nadar, and his mother Vamasundari Devi was the sister of S. P. Adithanar, founder of Dina Thanthi newspaper. He completed his schooling at Town Higher Secondary School, Kumbakonam. Later he got admitted into Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School, Madurai. In June 1995, he was admitted into the 6th class and continued schooling until June 1997, in Town High School.
