Early Life:

YoungBoy Never Broke Again was born on the 20th of October 1999 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, making him 23 years old as of 2022. His real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, but letter adopted stage names YoungBoy, YB, NBA YoungBoy, and Lil Top. He lived mainly on the North Side of town at 38th and Chippewa Street, a location he often used for his music videos. NBA grew up with his younger brother Ken and also has an older sister. 

Early Career:

Growing up his older sister would beat him up when he was a toddler, causing him to hate women for a little while. On the other hand, his mother would also give him a whopping at her home out at Scotlandville and he was also getting into some wrestling brawls. As a result, he broke his neck when he was only 4 years old. To recover properly from the injury he was put into a Halo brace which was screwed to his head, that’s why he still got them visible scars.  NBA YoungBoy started writing raps at the age of seven, completing his first single in the first or second grade which was entitled For A Reason. While his mother was also once upon a time a rapper which encouraged him to pursue his career in the rap industry. He spent most of his childhood with his grandmother and during that time his father was sentenced to 55 years of prison for a robbery gone wrong when he was 8. In 2010 his grandmother died from heart failure. Since then he started staying at his friend’s house and a fellow rapper NBA 3Three.  His first job was cutting grass around the neighborhood and he hung out with many of his childhood friends to who he’s still close today including 3Three, Lil Ben, as well as Boomer. In 2015 NBA came up with the release of his first mixtape titled Life Before Fame. At the time his friend’s mother Monique helped them by paying the studio’s fees. A string of other mixtapes followed including Mind of a Menace, Mind of a Menace 2, and Before I Go released in 2015. In October 2016 YoungBoy attracted major attention with the release of his mixtape 38 Baby which the music video has since gone a sensation. Criminal History:

According to some references, Gaulden was charged by the United States Marshalls In Autin, Texas, on November 28, 2016, for 2 counts of attempted first-degree murder from a past incident that happened on November 2nd, 2016, in Louisiana. Reports declare that YoungBoy and another boy allegedly got out of a car and opened fire at a group of boys on the 2000 block of Kentucky Street, South Baton Rogue. Shortly after being officially arrested and booked, Gaulden was deported to another jurisdiction and was kept on a $200,000 bond. After finishing nearly 7 months in the prison, NBA YoungBoy had a court hearing where he ended up admitting to firing a gun numerous times during the drive-by shooting that occurred on the 2000 block of Kentucky ST. on the 2nd of November 2016.  Points after YoungBoy’s confession, the prosecutor suggested a plea agreement to Gaulden for a lesser charge in exchange for a guilty plea. The deal was that the NBA YoungBoy claimed guilty, and the existing charges would be removed to 1 count of heightened assault with a firearm instead of 2 counts of attempted second-degree murder. After already admitting to his offenses, NBA YoungBoy took this helpful plea deal. At the end of the hearing, Judge Bonnie Jackson gave him a post-conviction bond of $50 thousand which permitted him to exit prison that day. 

Further Criminal Activities:

Once home he began releasing more tracks and his hit single Untouchable came out. On August 22, 2017, NBA YoungBoy was back in the court for sentencing. At first, the judge gave him an inspirational talk that stayed for quite some time according to people who attended the courtroom. After that, the judge handed down a 10-year suspended jail term to him as well as 3 years of active supervised probation. Not to mention, the judge also ordered YoungBoy to complete 250 hours of community service, which includes an anti-violence public service as well as a $5 thousand fine. At the end of sentencing, YoungBoy apologized for his offenses and stated that “I made a mistake and I learned from it”.  For the following 7 months, he was more focussed on his music career but in Feburary 2018 he was again arrested in Tallahassee for allegedly committing acts of assault and several other crimes.
