Nardwuar was born John Ruskin on the 5th of July in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was was to a mother named Olga Ruskin (née Bruchovsky), and a father named Vernon Ruskin, who was an engineer.  He developed an interest in the entertainment industry in his childhood. Nardwuar entered the speaking contest at school and managed to entertain everyone. Career:

After getting his start in the late 1980s Nardwuar would strike up a working relationship with a Vancouver college radio station known as CITR by hounding his program director until they offered him a show. When they finally relented they offered him one minute of air time on Friday Nights. Nardwuar jumped at the chance getting him into the studio for one minute of content was easy. Over time the show became longer and longer. Over those decades in the 90s Nardwuar perfected his interview format taking inspiration from other people such as American actor Arsenio Hall. Most of his early CITR interviews were primarily sound only but this collection houses some of his most rare interviews with some gigantic acts like Sonic Youth in 1991, and Kurth Cobain in 1994.  By 1996 the students from the Vancouver film school built Nardwuar his own website to host his interviews, a site he still uses to this day.
