Colin Andrew Firth was born on the 10th of September 1960 in Grayshott, Hampshire, England. His father David Norman Lewis served as a history lecturer at King Alfred’s College while his mother Shirley Jean also was a teacher and Comparative Religion Lecturer at King Alfred’s College. In addition, Colin’s dad was also an education officer for the Nigerian government.  Due to his parent’s jobs, Colin moved a lot with his family to different places including Nigeria and St. Louis, Missouri. During an interview with Hamshire Life, Colin Firth would open up in regards to what he described as a “difficult childhood”. He stated that “When I was young we moved around an awful lot and it was difficult never being able to settle in one place.” Following his return to his hometown, England, Colin enrolled at the Montgomery of Alamein Secondary School.
